Heart of the Sea is the third book in Nora Roberts Irish trilogy “The Gallagher’s of Ardmore”. Once again, the backdrop is set in the rural village of Ardmore on the western shores of Ireland, the village locals and the Gallagher’s family pub.
Now that Aiden (Jewels of the Sun) and Shawn Gallagher (Tears of the Moon) have both married and settled down, the Heart of the Sea turns to their younger sister Darcy. Throughout the series, the second storyline has been Carrick, the Prince of the Fairies who is to help three couples find love and happiness. Now that the Gallagher brothers have both found love, one last couple remains to find love and break the spell for Carrick to reunite with his true love.
Darcy Gallagher is spoiled, pampered, a flirt and dreams of finding a rich and handsome man to love and worship her and to provide all the glamour and luxuries she desires. Her flirtatious personality hides her non-committal ways. Little does she realize that the man who she has been flirting with is not a construction worker at the work site, but is the actual business owner of the theater being built at her family pub.
Trevor Magee, a wealthy businessman who has Irish ties, is busy with construction details for the new theater just off the Gallagher family pub. He has been all about business for as long as he can remember. Having given up on love long ago, Trevor never expected to find himself entranced by Darcy Gallagher. Knowing Darcy’s desire for money, glamour and luxuries, Trevor is willing to give it to her.
As you witness the intricate dance between Trevor and Darcy, both of these strong characters, neither having never truly been in love before, are both bewildered by the realization of their feelings for each other.
I truly enjoyed this novel. Of the three novels within this trilogy, this was my least favorite. The magic of this novel, and series for that matter, belongs with the Gallagher’s themselves. The humorous conversations and the unconditional love they have for each other and their loves demonstrates the truly magical bonds of family.
Due to the interactivity with the storyline and characters, each of the books within this trilogy needs to be read in order for which they are presented. The lives of the Gallagher family was introduced in the Jewels of the Sun, continues with the Tears of the Moon and concludes with this novel, Heart of the Sea. This trilogy is one of my favorites by Nora Roberts and one that I have gone to and continue to enjoy again and again.
