Sleep! Like many of you, I sometimes have a hard time getting a good nights’ sleep. In the past I have purchased some special sprays to help get a restful sleep but they were filled with chemicals, toxins, and artificial scents and perfumes.
So I decided to go about making my own. This allowed me to get exactly what I wanted, scent-wise, and to do it without the all the harmful properties that come with purchased products. It’s easy to do and you can do it with as little as two ingredients!
I love to use this Sweet Dreams Bed Linen Spray on my pillows and sheets to help lull me to sleep. It aids me in enjoying a restful night of sleep. Since I travel quite often, I also make up a travel size to go with me wherever my travels take me.
Supplies Needed:
1 12 oz. or larger glass spray bottle
1 Funnel
Ingredients Needed:
8 oz. Distilled/filtered water OR vodka (if using vodka, cheap is your best bet)
Lavender or Serenity (calming blend) Essential Oil
Directions:
1. Using the funnel, pour the 8 oz. of distilled water or vodka into the spray bottle.
2. Add 15 to 17 drops of Lavender or Serenity essential oil
3. Screw nozzle onto bottle
4. Shake well to combine.
To Use:
Prior to use, I shake the spray bottle and then lightly mist my pillows and/or sheets and blankets. Give your pillow and sheets time for the fabric to air dry before climbing into bed.
As the directions note above, I have used both water and vodka as the base. Water has a tendency to take longer to dry than Vodka. This keeps moisture down, as most fabrics find moisture an enemy. If I use the spray to freshen a rug, curtains, mattress, bed linens and upholstery, I tend to use the Vodka. If I am using the spray more as an air freshener, then I would use water. So depending on how you will use the spray and your preferences will allow you to determine what works best for you.
Sweet Dreams!
