My name is Jen and I am one half of Sprinkles of Sand. I live in southern New Jersey in a rural setting. My passions include animals, books, movies, music, gardening and the simple things in life. As far as my work experience goes, I have worn several hats so far in my lifetime.
They include working on an ambulance as an Emergency Medical Technician (paid and volunteer), working with developmentally disabled children in a school setting as well as in a crisis home and working as a veterinary technician. I currently work in medical records in a nursing home for veterans. I have also volunteered with the Red Cross in disaster services and worked in shelters during emergencies. A lot of these have overlapped and I was working and volunteering at the same time.
Geriatrics have always held a special place in my heart. Animal or human, I love the elderly and consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to care for so many animals and people in their twilight years. Most of those have been family and my pets. It has been difficult but incredibly rewarding. There is so much to learn from those who are approaching the end of their lives and the chance to make a difference and hopefully ease a little suffering is priceless.
I also really enjoy being outside and experiencing the beauty that nature has to offer. Animals are my best friends. And last but not least, I love to get lost in books or a good movie. We started this website to share our pursuit to find balance by embracing the things we are passionate about and those are some of mine. I hope you stick around and share yours with us.
