Hi There. Thanks for stopping by! I thought I would tell you a little about me and my journey in life so far. My name is Theresa and I am the other half of Sprinkles of Sand.
My life has been spent living in New Jersey with the ocean being just a short jaunt away. Even though I live within hours of all the key Northeast city’s, I reside in an extremely rural area with a population of less than 2000 residents, where you need to drive 20 – 25 minutes to do any kind of shopping or an hour plus to go to a big mall or popular stores. I can guarantee it is not the image most think of when they think of New Jersey. I have come to love living in the peace and quiet that comes with rural living.
Ten years ago I left Corporate America having worked in many industries ranging from financial (Accounting and banking), medical, retail, metals and alloys, glass manufacturing and pharmaceutical packaging. With this busy lifestyle came extreme stress and exhaustion, which only got compounded with continuous business travel. The knowledge and vast experience gained during those years led me to try things out on my own. Today I am self-employed and own multiple businesses.
Having worked in Corporate American and then being self-employed in start-up modes surely skewed the work-life balance expectation.
In the past two years or so, I have come to the realization that I am just running through life, not taking or having the time to relax or even be present in life. Actually I can pretty much confirm that I have been in the rat-race wheel for over 20 years. Between managing businesses, caring for aging family (who have since passed) and friends, being on the road upwards of 75 – 80% of the year for business, being married, maintaining a house, animals, struggling with food intolerances, and just everyday life has left me exhausted and spent.
I want to do things that I always would always tell myself I would get to, but never did. Try things that I always wanted to but never had the time. Identify what I am passionate about. Learn things, experience things. This blog is a result of those thoughts, where finding balance in life and focusing on those items for which I have a passion.
In my focus to find balance, I have discovered that I enjoy reading. I have also learned to garden by growing different kinds of flowers, vegetables and fruit. My gravitation and fascination with all elements of wellness, living a more natural and health conscious lifestyle, and the love and care of animals is what brings that balance. I am fascinated and am always learning. My goals focus on expanding that focus and living a more healthful and present life. Join me for the ride!
